Physiotherapy
Is the treatment of physical disability or pain by exercise or massage.
Pilates
This is a mind-body exercise technique that aims to train one in correct alignment and muscle balance. The exercises focus on postural symmetry, breathing control, lumbo pelvic & shoulder stability. Modified Pilates offers specific training for the “core muscles” sub-maximally. It aims to increase the endurance, tone and strength of these “core muscles”, that are essential to provide support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of neutral alignment of the spine and the strengthening of the deep postural muscles that support this alignment, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.
Specific Classes Include:
- Pilates classes for back pain
- Pilates for MS
- Chair-based Pilates
- Back schools for individuals with back pain.
